Hélène was born December 1, 1935 in the north of France and emigrated to Larchmont, New York, with her parents and family in 1946. Although she often says “I am a war child”, living in Manhattan since 1953, she is a total New York City girl. Her time as an artist and photographer was divided between New York and Naples, Florida, for twenty years where she was active in several charities and art societies. An active sailor, with thousands of nautical miles on oceans, she was the Naples Port Officer for the East Coast sailing club The Corinthians, and for the Little Ship Club of London.

Self-taught as a professional photographer, Hélène had several exhibits in the 70’s in New York City and Paris, France. Her work was published in numerous newspapers, magazines, books, and other publications, including The New York Times, TIME, People and New York Magazines.

Her photographic archives currently at the HILLWOOD ART MUSEUM, LI, NY, which organized a retrospective of her work in September-November 2008, will be moved into the Library of Congress Photographic Documents at a later date.

Hélène’s current books in print, The BOAT BOOK: A Guide and Reference Book for ALL Boaters and Nautical Terms & Abbreviations, are available at Amazon.com. In 2003 she published Chantons Ensemble, a song book in French, no longer in print. With Peter Evans, author of Nemesis, a book on Aristotle Onassis (2004), Hélène was co-writing a novel about life in New York in the 70’s but is now in limbo.
